Abstract:
Many people are effective at setting goals but not as many people actually accomplish them. Successful people determine where they are going and develop specific plans to get there. Because they are well prepared, they travel their life journey with vitality and confidence.
This presentation will focus on understanding the importance of setting goals, learning the criteria for setting goals that improve one’s chances of accomplishing them and appreciating the key factors in the formula for success. My intent is to have you leave here empowered to set your own goals, so that you can create the future of your dreams; in both your professional and personal lives!

Bio:
Mr. Hackler currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the Porcelain Enamel Institute, Inc. (PEI is a trade association supporting the porcelain enameling industry in the US, Canada and Mexico) and the Managing Director of the Enamelist Society (a professional society of enamel artists). With PEI, he manages all of the day-to-day activities of the institute as well as continuing to serve as a technical consultant to the industry in porcelain enameling processes, glass frit technology and new market/product development. He also supports the industry in numerous ways; 1) porcelain enamel specific training workshops in member company plants, 2) cooperation with agencies like EPA, OSHA, etc. on the rules and regulations affecting the P/E industry, 3) current work on a new coating/process for lining iron pipe to make our drinking water safer, 4) in-plant process & quality improvement initiatives with PEI and 5) he frequently talks on new developments in porcelain enamel technology as well as business/personal development topics.
Prior industrial experience includes Vice President of Product Development and Technical Support for Alliance International Group (1990 – 1998) who manufacture continuously coil coated enameled steel in the US and Europe. His role involved the leadership of cross cultural and multi-discipline teams who focused on both new products and new manufacturing processes. From 1973 – 1990 he worked for Bayer AG/Mobay/Pemco Products in Baltimore, MD where his career progressed from a ceramic engineer at the laboratory bench in R & D to management of sales, marketing, technical service, research and product development.
Cullen earned BS and MS degrees in Ceramic Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1971 and 1974. He is a Fellow member of the American Ceramic Society and has chaired the Baltimore-Washington section, the Southeastern Section, the Whitewares Division as well as serving on the Society meetings, publications and nominating committees. In addition, he has authored over 45 technical papers and has presented them in the US, Europe and Asia.
