Abstract:
Ceramics are one of mankind’s oldest material technologies. From the ancient pottery to modern day tiles we use these materials daily. Technical ceramics are a special subset which are engineered to get specific performance and properties like electrical insulation, hardness, thermal conductivity, high temperature survival and radio transparency.
In this talk we will cover a brief history of ceramics including different kinds of ceramics and their uses. Then we will dive deeper into the world of technical ceramics, the needs that are driving their usage, what makes them unique and some prominent examples in different industries.
